Punjab: International kabaddi player shot dead in Jalandhar

Chandigarh: International Kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal was shot dead by 4 males on Monday night in Jalandhar district of Punjab, police stated.

According to Jalandhar (Rural) Police Deputy Superintendent of Police (Nakodar) Lakhwinder Singh, the incident passed off when a kabaddi match was being held at Mallian Kalan village in Shahkot.

Sandeep Nangal, a 40-year-old kabaddi player, hails from Nangal Ambian village of Shahkot, the place he lives along with his household in England. But Sandeep was organizing kabaddi tournaments in Punjab. When Sandeep left the match venue, 4 unknown villagers fired at him, police stated.

After Sandeep was shot, he was taken to Nakodar Hospital. But police say the physician instructed them he had died.

Video of the shootings can also be viral on social networking websites. Further investigation into the case is underway, police stated.
