Sonia Gandhi appointed five leaders to review electoral defeat, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday appointed five senior leaders to review the Congress’ debacle within the five-state legislative elections and to recommend organizational changes.

The appointment was made by Sonia Gandhi the day after she was advised to head the state unit to resign after the election defeat.

Rajya Sabha MP Rajani Patil, Jairam Ramesh to Manipur and Ajay Maken have been requested to review the defeat of Goa.

Congress chief Jitendra Singh on the Uttar Pradesh debacle and Avinash Pandey on the Uttarakhand election debacle.

“The Congress president has appointed five leaders to review the electoral defeat and have been informed by legislative candidates and key leaders to advise them on institutional changes in the states,” the official assertion stated.
